Self-Represented Artist, Mister MOJO, leader of ‘MOJO and The Bayou Gypsies’, is the recipient of The Liz Silverstein Award for Agent/Manager of the Year.
Recipients are chosen based on demonstrating excellence in three areas: exemplary mentoring; setting an example of best
practices, achievement and leadership; and cultivating and promoting diversity, practicing inclusion and creating equity for
underserved members of our community. The Agent-Manager of the Year award is named for the late, cherished agent-manager, Liz
Silverstein, whose tireless and enthusiastic support and mentoring of artists and colleagues both in presenting and management,
impacted the entire field by showing us all how shared knowledge and cooperation make for a better and more vital industry and
working environment.
Mister MOJO has performed on PBS, ABC, CBS, NBC, Superstation WGN, FOX, and CMT TV Networks, put out 23 albums of original Music certified by the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. He is a producer, composer, performer, manager, and presenter in Music, Stage, and Film, who started his professional career in 1963. He is the historian who got the Zydeco Rubboard into the Smithsonian Institution, and is executive producer of historic, feature-film documentaries. He is an International Music Ambassador for the State of Louisiana, and is an active advocate for the Arts working with many of America's top Arts Agencies as a member, a speaker, and mentor. Mister MOJO was a Board Member of NAPAMA (North American Performing Arts Managers and Agents) for six years. Mister MOJO’s life and career are the subject of the multi-award winning feature documentary, “The Magic Behind the MOJO”, by Gallo Films. Filled with MOJO's original music, the film won an award for “Best Original Score” from the Southern Academy. "I've done nothing extraordinary. Mojo is a musician, singer and songwriter and the leader of Mojo and the Bayou Gypsies. This documentary looks into the making of a man who gives something everyday, lives life to the fullest, and all his friends are friends for life.
